to participate in the celebration of the 30th anniversary of Grandparents Day. Each year we host a banquet in honor of our most unsung heroes, our Grandparents. The Grandparents Day Banquet is expected to attract over 300 people. We are hosting the 2009 celebration on Sunday - September 13th, 2009 @ the luxurious Radisson Hotel & Convention Center on Bell School Rd. in Rockford. This event is given by Carolyn Ferguson, Miracle Cooper and Demetria Starks, daughters of the late Laclede Cunningham, who founded the organization 9 years ago. Laclede is the founder of Rockford’s annual Grandparents Day Banquet. This event features a gourmet 4 course meal, live entertainment and an awards ceremony with special guest speaker. This year Grandparents Day will be hosted by SOUL 106.3FM’s own, Christian Radio Host, Darryl King. With live performances by Carl & Dianna Cole, Christian Comedian BLT, an R&B Singer Victoria and a special solo performance from Stephanie Goldsmith (winner of Gospel Idol). This event is a Christian-geared multicultural, family oriented setting. Our awards ceremony is given based on the nominations we receive from our nomination sites, which are mostly displayed at churches in the Stateline area. If you would like to nominate a member of your family please fill out the nomination form with a brief description of the achievements and/or reasons why you nominated your Grandparent. This year’s awards include: “The Outstanding Grandmother Award”, “The Outstanding Grandfather Award”, and “Church Mother of the Year Award”. Our awards all come with plaques and an award package given away by our ministries. The package includes gift certificates, prizes and giveaway”. We feel that organizations that participate DO make a difference. Take the time to make a difference by thanking a Grandparent by nominating them for the 2009 Grandparents Day Banquet or sponsoring the event in some way.
